Florianopolis

Some days in Floripa and Joinville - at least now I know where Floripa exactly is! Es paar Täg in Floripa und Joinville - wenigschtens weissi jetzt, wo Floripa wirklich isch!

On Monday after Sunday in Santos I left Renatas Family and Sao Paulo to fly south to Florianopolis or, as the locals call it, Floripa.
From Vania, a Brazilian friend from Rheinfelden, I got an address in Lagoa da Conceiçao, where colleagues of her own a Racletterie (yep, real Swiss Raclette and Fondue and other common Swiss dishes can be found in the "deep South" of Brazil). This couple booked me an appartment in a Pousada in Barra da Lagoa - a young Swiss woman opened it End of last year.
Claudia, the owner of this Pousada picked me up on the airport and together we went to Barra. Well, it was nice and I just loved the appt. It was all blue and dark beige and I got the real summer/island feeling - especially because of the hibiscus flower stickers on the fridge!;-)
During my first night there, all the three rooms were occupied. Left of me lived two German guys and right an Austrian one - Switzerland as always in the middle...
The next day I went walking to a small "harbour" (for about three boats) to take a boat/ferry to cross the lagoa and walk back to Lagoa da Conceiçao. I don´t know when I last had the feeling of being completely lost but I felt so relieved when I arrived at this "ferry terminal" although I was the only woman around 8 men - worse, men I didn't understand (because of the language barrier...)! But it all went well and I had a nice but hot walk to Lagoa with a beautiful view over the lagoon.
On Wednesday in the morning I went to the city center of Floripa. Well, how confused was I, having a look on the map and then actually being there. On the map it always seemd to me that the city of Florianopolis is entirely on the mainland and the island Isla Santa Catarina is an island for itself. But no! The main part of the city center of Floripa is actually situated in the middle of the west coast of the island, not far from the main airport (as you see, I was confused since my arrival on the island because I as well thought, the airport would be on the mainland... well, not really either!) and all those places like Barra or Lagoa are some sort of "suburbs". Anyway, I walked through the streets, sinned by buying two more pairs of havaianas for me (but the hawaiian-flower print is soooooo cute, and they were pretty cheap) and some souvenirs for my friends back home and after two hours of walking around I decided to go back to Barra or at least Lagoa. The whole city was already getting ready for Carnaval but I only saw the "Casa do Carnaval" from the bus - too bad, because now I don't have a pic of the city.
I drove straight to Barra and went to Lagoa to have dinner in the Racletterie Suisse. Although I've never seen either Peter or Carol, we got along very well. Around midnight I finally went to the bus station to go home.
The next day I went to Armaçao, another nice little beach village and spent the afternoon there. Unfortunately it started raining and soon I was completely wet. Well, at least the restaurants there profited from the weather. Still I took many pics, the dark sky and the rough sea just had to be banned in my camera. Some of the Surfer boys too, of course... though they're to small on the pics, too bad!;-) The thing that amazed me most was, that I could travel as long and far as I wanted with paying only once R$2.00 bus fare - if I got on and off at the main bus stations (terminals). This was so cool! In that moment, I loved Brazil!
Back in Barra, I crossed the bridge to check out the other side of the village and found a very cute bay, surrounded by hills/rocks. I stayed there and later took on of the walking trails to a "natural pool". I didn't go down there though but stayed up on one huge rock and took a pic of two cows, which were laying in the grass next to the pool. Yes, cows - in the middle of nowhere/rainforest!
On Friday I "took a day off" of traveling and wandering around and just stayed in my appartment and read. In the early evening I went to the beach (Playa de Moçambique) to collect seashells and sand. It was so nice walking along the white sand, the setting sun putting all in e very beautiful, red-golden light and only a few people - mainly fishermen or other shell-seekers were out. That evening I fell a tiny little bit in love with this place.
Yes, and on Saturday afternoon, Camila, the third of my friends in Brazil who moved from Sao Paulo to Joinville, picked me up to take me to her flat.

A short note for Alessio: Yes, you were right!! Floripa has some beautiful "sights"!;-)

  • ********************************

Leider hani d'"Casa do Carnaval" erscht vom Bus us gseh - d'Fassade vo dem Huus wär wirklich es Föteli wärt gsii. Jetzt hani halt keis vom Zentrum...
Z'Obe bini nach Lagoa in d'Racletterie go Z'Nacht ässe. Obwohl ich de Peter und d'Carol nur vom Telefon här gkennt han, händ mir uns grad guet verstande (wohl au, will ich endlich mol wider han chönne Schwiizerdütsch rede). Gege Mitternacht hani mi denn "endlich" ufe Heiwäg gmacht.
Super Syschtem!
Wider in Barra bini s'Dörfli chli go erkunde. Jöö, so härzig!
